1.A psychiatrist completes an assessment with patient who is accompanied by a friend or relative and determines the course of action.
2.The doctor recommends TMS treatment and discusses the therapeutic effect, the possible side effects and when to expect symptom improvement.
3.The initial TMS session or “brain mapping” includes the determination of the motor threshold and cap markings of exact location for placement of the treatment coil and markings on the treatment cap for exact location.
4.The TMS protocol requires daily sessions lasting less than 5 minutes (Express TMS) for about 7-8 weeks. Treatment does not require sedation.
5.About 2-3 re-determination of motor threshold with subsequent treatment delivery and management are highly recommended and management dependent on insurance approval.
